I present to you...Jacksn Browne with The Pretender and America with Sister Golden Hair.

Salam Doc,
Teringat masa muda ya doc? Saya pun membesar zaman rock -dengan ayat power "gua caya lu" . Allahyarham abah saya marah & emak saya pernah bakar seluar jeans saya yang "fit"(nak pakai kena guna plastik). Bila dah tua2 fikir balik..ish..bodohnya aku....bukannya buta hukum-hakam tapi ikut sangat hati muda. Bila saya tengok gelagat anak muda sekarang...tak macam kita dulu-dulu lagi. Zaman kita takat rock jetdoc..takde ler bohsia, rempit dll. Jika terhamil luar nikah pun cuma kes2 terpencil je.

Memang betoi kata waterlily tu, dulu aku rock, semua nak rock, nyanyi lagu rock tapi perangai ada batasan, Aku masih takut mak bapak dan tau right from wrong. Lani depa dive in terus. Mungkin sebab lani depa seolah-olahnya digalakkan leka so that tak jadi terlalu critical.

Tok,
Sekarang ni tak payah tunggu rock tapi perangai bebudak mmg tak ada tandingan..nama nak hormat orang tua jauh sekali
Thanks for the entry ... nostalgic betui... teringat masa dulu dok gila lagu America. Tang Jackson Browne nih ingat2 luper la pulak. Tapi masa tu paling besh Jump by Van Halen --- JUMP!

Waterlily:

Memang dulu tak ramai awek yg betul2 pakai cara rockers.

Dan memang masa tu kita nak buat apa fikir dulu ttg mak-ayah. Nanti mak-ayah marah la, mak-ayah malu lah etc. Itu menjadi batasan kita.

Remaja sekarang, mereka jarang berfikir ttg mak-ayah atau maruah keluarga. Like I said to waterlily, mak-ayah zaman sekarang adalah generasi mat-minah rock zaman che'gu dan zaman aku.

Pak mior:

America masa tu di kenali jugak pasai vocal harmoni depa 3 org ni menjadi.

Jackson Browne seinggat aku kat kampus dulu tak ramai yg minat.Aku dulu ntah macamana terbeli keset(pirated) The Pretender kat Petaling Street, terus minat.

Yes JUMP was a hit kat kampus kita dulu. Bila ada open day, mana-mana band yg main main kat kampus mesti perform JUMP punya.

salam doc,
hahaa... 80an itulah masa kegemilangan saya. Nama kumpulan kami 'Trio Fusion', satu drum, satu bass dan saya on keyboards. tak dak duit nak beli DX7, pi beli Roland Jupiter yang secondhand. Tapi first study Violin. Memang giler masa tu.Bila ada recording kat RTM, kena angkut keyboard naik bas sebab tak dak duit nak naik teksi.

Tapi alhamdulillah, bila saya dah kahwin, semuanya stop. anak-anak saya lebih baik dari saya, inshaAllah. Mereka bukan remaja yang doc ceritakan tu. Saya tak mahu anak-anak saya menyusahkan masyarakat. Penin saya nanti. hee..

Accia:

what I noticed, sapa2 yg dulu anggap diri rock kapak ke rock gergaji ke, if they are educated, they know their limitation. They might like rock songs but selalu nya they are well behaved.

Seingat saya, dulu kalau kat UM ada rock band masuk, berduyun-duyun mat dan minah rock dari Kg Kerinchi akan masuk kampus with their jeans koyak rabak. They are the ones who will make the most noise and they are the ones who will menari terkinja-kinja kat depan kat belakang. Ada yg dalam keadaan stone.
Budak2 kampus jarang yg terkinja-kinja(mungkin nak kontrol macho sebab makwe ada sama).

Dulu kalau pergi ke Pertama Kompleks, yg dok melepak depan tangga Pertama semua yg dok pakai jeans koyak rabak ni.

Most likely kaki rock yg ada education ni they will stay listening to rock songs but semakin dewasa they know what they want in life and go for it.

The 'hancus' mat rock ni selalunya pindah randah kerja dan when they have kids, they have difficulty in controlling their kids.

Bukan tak ada anak2 org yg educated yg jadi hancus sekarang, ramai jugak. Tapi selalunya kalau bapak tak tentu hala, anak juga jadi begitu.

And, yg semakin terok akhlak bukan saja budak2 dari bandar tau. Tengok lah kat kampong2 dan Felda2...ramai juga mat rempit dan bohsia yg terbabit dalam zina(and they take videos with their handphones and distribute it on the net or via bluetooth).

During the 80s, samada u form a rock outfit or you dwell into jazz fusion.

kalu lagu2 pop ni secara solo saja.

I think anak2 Accia kena di ajar juga main alat2 muzik, bukan utk cari rezeki tapi as a hobby dan saluran kraetiviti mereka.
( I regret sebab dulu tak belajar main instruments. Gitar tong pun tak reti main)

Dr Bahari tak nyanyi lagu rock dulu.
Dia lebih kepada folk. Dia suka nyanyi lagu2 America, Jackson Browne,Bob Dylan, Seals and croft, Gordon Lightfoot, Cat Stevens, Jim Croche, Joni Mitchell,Harry Chapins,
Simon and Garfunkel.

Lagu2 yg dia boleh main gitar sambil nyanyi. And Dr Bahari is very good in doing it.Cuma dia low profile. Perform pun kat college yg dia tinggal saja. Masa tu kalau dia nak nyanyi kat pub tentu di terima ramai. He had a very good voice.

Salam saudara dr tokasid,

bagaimana cuti...heheheh

Benar kata waterlily...saya setuju dengan beliau...teringat zaman rock dulu-dulu..nak tambah sikit yang pakai jin ( jeans) taruk plastik tu memang benar..kelakar teringat masa darah muda dulu-dulu...

Tak lupa juga siap conteng pakai maker pen..hehehe....yang ekstrim sikit tu pernah jumpa rocker buat bendera amerika kat "jin" pakai cat minyak hehehehe..habis bau satu konsert...dia ingat gempak kot...siap kibar bendera amerika..bodoh betul zaman darah muda yer..hihhkk

Accia:

Mana mulut saya tak masin, semalam makan tamban goreng..heh3.

That is a good step. I mean, your have yhe musical knowledge. You can read music and can play several instruments. Violin is one instrument that not many can play well. Apart from the guitar( ajat dia 12 strings boleh?), he should also learn the violin and piano/keyboard.

Now I longed(and angan2)if I could play the guitar,I'm sure bila boring2 boleh jugak petik2 main lagu2 Sohaimi, Zubir Ali,Kopratasa, Ebiet or Iwan Fals or Dylan, Clapton, BB King, John Lee Hooker and the legendary Robert Johnson.

Tapi apa kan daya dah tangan bangku.

De_kerinchi:

Saya kalau nak tgk gelagat mat-minah rock, cuma tgk bila geng Kerinchi masuk kampus.

This is my first comment since I got back on my kapal ngebor di Kaltim. Pak Doc, kalau nak citer pasal Jackson Browne, mampuih.. takde kesudahannya. When I was in asrama days in the late 70s Sister Golden Hair itu 'wajib' tau main dikalangan fraternity gitar tong jenama 'Kapok'. Even today (I think) I can remember the chords. Lyric jer dah blur sebab over 30 years.

OK I have an admission to make. 2 weeks back Kak Nuraina ajak pi Open Hse dia where I was to meet her brother Abang Med who is a musician and also a music columnist for Malay Mail in the late 70s'. Tak pernah jumpa tapi pernah dia left some comments on my blog. From what I heard if he's there sure dia akan play some songs. And I wanted to (che wah!) impress him too. So I took out my guitar tong from the store, beli string baru and download from internet lyrics+chords from who else, JB lah! Cari laa lagu chord senang2 (tangan sakit ni dah lama tak main nih) dan suara boleh bawak. So for about a day I got Lives in The Balance and These Days down ok. Version tu I got from JB's unplugged vol.1 concert released few years ago which I pinjam-ed from Bru' Rocky (belum pon pulang lagi). Pretender verse terlalu panjang tak daya nak memorize. But sayang nya I tak dapat pergi because I had earlier already promised my family nak kuar outstation bercuti to CH (not bertahlil di GH!) laskopek fnal bonding session with my kids...

So rugilah practise melalak sampai kene marah ngan bini tapi tak jadi perform. Ada juga hati tu I nak end the set with 'Rosie' or 'Take It Easy', which not many know is JB's song written fro Eagles.

Eh.. Eagles got new album, dah release kat Meshia ke..?

Wei.. Dr. Bahari tu org. Buntut Pulau ke? Well.. I'm from Buntut Pulau wei! Belah ayoh koi... Is Dr. Bahari our age?

Alhamdulillah you are back in one piece in Kalimantan. Happy ngebor pak!

Aisehman!!Rugi la hang couldn't entertain Bang Hamed( how can I forget his reviews...lepas baca reviews dia akan keluar naik bas mini to cari keset yg dia review).
If he had listened to your rendition, he might form a duo with you for Tuesday gigs at MRT.

Dr Bahari tu ikut umor senior kita setahun. He's in the same batch with CGOPD. They are close buddy. Dr Bahari will only play his guitar and sing in his room, play football in the evening and study...But I just loved listening to him. Wouldn't know JB, cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell if not for him.
