Happy Chinese new year to all your Chinese readers and Happy Holidays to you Tokasid. The year of the rat should be interesting. I for one am looking forward to the four day extended holiday. Not going anywhere but will stay home to relax and catch up on my reading (books and blogs).
I actually miss the Chinese New Year of old where as a young boy I will go with friends to Chinese neighbours and friends ostensibly to celebrate the new year but actually to collect as much ang pows as possible. My children have no inclination to do the same. Maybe it is because they have less Chinese friends and neighbours are actually strangers. I will not allow them to roam the streets as when I was small, as it is no longer safe to do so. Well those were the good old days.
